WHAT TO DO IF YOUR POOL PUMP WILL NOT PRIME OR HAS IMPROPER WATER FLOW?

 

Even the best swimming pool pumps can occasionally run into trouble. You are always able to contact our service department for assistance, however you may not even have to go that far. It may be possible to solve the issue on your own. Here are some solutions to basic pool filter troubles. 

HOW WILL YOU KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM?

If your filter is not working properly, you will notice stagnate, cloudy water. Or you may just notice the chemical balance seems continually off.  Either way, it is important to deal with any issue when it arises, as even a small concern can compound into a much larger problem.

 

PUMP WILL NOT PRIME

PROBLEM: No water in the strainer pot.

SOLUTION: Fill pump with water from hose. Lubricate ‘O’ ring and replace it.

 

PROBLEM: Strainer pot is not tight.

SOLUTION: Remove lid. Lubricate ‘O’ ring and hand tighten.

 

PROBLEM: Damaged lid ‘O’ ring.

SOLUTION: Replace lid ‘O’ ring.

 

PROBLEM: Water level below skimmer.

SOLUTION: Fill the pool with water until it reaches the center of the tile.

 

PROBLEM: Pump basket or skimmer basket is clogged.

SOLUTION: Empty and replace the basket.

 

PROBLEM: Air leak in suction line.

SOLUTION: Check for loose packing nuts on suction side gate valve.

 

LOW FLOW / HIGH FILTER PRESSURE

PROBLEM: Filter is dirty.

SOLUTION: Backwash filter or hose off cartridge.

 

PROBLEM: Restriction in return line.

SOLUTION: Open any valve that may have closed.

 

LOW FLOW / LOW FILTER PRESSURE

PROBLEM: Pump basket or skimmer basket is clogged.

SOLUTION: Empty basket and replace.

 

PROBLEM: Clogged impeller.

SOLUTION: Remove debris from impeller.

 

PROBLEM: Air leak in suction line.

SOLUTION: Check for loose packing nuts on suction side gate valve.
