HOW TO PREVENT WATER EVAPORATION IN YOUR SWIMMING POOL

Temperatures continue to stay north of 100° F in the area. While pool water evaporation is going to be inevitable with weather like this, there are a number of ways to significantly reduce the amount of water your pool loses. Try out a few of these tactics and see the results in your pool!

FEATURES AND FURNITURE

Preventing water from evaporating means keeping the water cooler. One of the most effective ways to keep water cool is shade. We offer a number of water features and outdoor furniture to keep your pool cool when you are in and out of the water. Among these are umbrellas, canopies, columns, pergolas, and fountains to keep the water from remaining in direct sunlight completely.

COVERS

When you’re not in the pool, a cover is going to be the most effective way to prevent water evaporation. In addition, covers prevent debris and can help maintain safety around a pool. For more information on covers and cover options, see our FAQs on Building a Pool.

WATER CIRCULATION

In addition to the beautiful aesthetic and shade benefits, some pool features can play an important role in preventing water loss in your pool through circulation. Stagnant water gets hot much quicker than moving water. Having water features that circulate water around your pool can lead to cooler water and less water loss.

AERATOR

Another option is a pool aerator. An aerator is a nozzle that sits on the side of your pool and is designed to keep the water temperature down.  It works by spraying water through oxygen in the air. The oxygen cools the water before it goes back into the pool.

PUMPS

Some pumps are intended to heat or cool a pool depending on the time of the year. They use water circulation similar to other pool features. They are quite effective and usually do their work during the evenings.

PROPER MAINTENANCE

How can maintenance possibly prevent water loss in your pool? If you don’t do all the necessary maintenance, you may have to drain your pool. What is going to cause more: water loss than having to drain your entire pool?
